My first piece of makeup was a black eye pencil. Even now, eye makeup is still my most essential cosmetics, and I am continually trying new and different products. Eye makeup transforms the part of you that people look at the most, and eyes are the most expressive feature of your face. Over the last 20 years, these 5 products are the best that I have found.
You might be surprised to see anti-chafing gel, but we'll get to that. ;)
I am an eyeliner junkie. Eyeliner has the power to enhance and alter the size, shape, and color of eyes. It's something that I'm fanatical about.
Gel eyeliner, eye pencils, different colored eyeliner, you name it, I got it! And, of all of them, the eyeliner that I treasure the most is the L'Oreal Lineur Intense felt tip liner in carbon black.
This eyeliner comes in a couple different applicators and colors. The felt tip applicator and carbon black color is superior imo. The felt tip has just the right amount of flex and rigidity to create very precise lines. It deposits the perfect amount of product and allows the user to apply super thin lines or to build out very thick precise cat eye looks. I've never found a liquid eyeliner applicator that I like better.
Carbon black is a true matte black. On my combination skin, the color does not fade whatsoever throughout the day. For a swatch, please refer to the image at the bottom of this article.
This eyeliner produces very defined lining and is not ideal for smudged eyeliner looks.
I adored this product so much that I stockpiled the heck out of these. It's a good thing that I did, because Milani discontinued this fabulous eyeliner.
This pencil is perfect for the inner corners of the eye. It brightens and has a slightly widening effect. The silver color is PERFECT. For inner corners, the right shade of whitish silver is vastly superior to white, light beige, metallic gold, or any light pastel color. Like I've said before, if it's eyeliner, I've tried it!
My eyes are on the smaller side, so anything that makes my eyes look larger or brighter piques my interest.
However, a lot of the tricks that work for large-eyed ladies such as Tyra Banks don't work well on me. For instance, white eyeliner on my lower waterline looks very artificial, obvious, and do not make my eyes look larger. And, dark black shades on the waterline make my eyes look really small.
A beige or light beige is the best color to brighten and enlarge the look of eyes. I use Rimmel ScandalEyes in Nude for the bottom waterline and also a thin line right underneath my lashline. Not only do my eyes look larger, they seem to sparkle more too!
Ladies. You MUST get some Monistat chafing relief powder gel, because it is the most affordable, most wonderful primer EVER. This is the best beauty tip I have ever gotten.
Spread a tiny dot of this on your eyelids prior to eye shadow, and not only will the eye shadow apply more smoothly and evenly, but creases and fading become a thing of the past. Apply this all over the skin prior to foundation, and your usual foundation will look 3x better.
This stuff makes any makeup you lay on top even better. A tiny amount goes a LONG way as well. Even if it wasn't so economical, this product should not be overlooked.
Because of the shape of my eyes and eyelashes, mascara almost always gives me raccoon eyes by the end of the day. The ONLY mascara that has not is Kiss Me Heavy Rotation mascara. I love how seriously dark black it is, and how it creates these tiny rubber-like tubes around my lashes. These tubes do not rub off or transfer color after an entire day, but the moment that they are introduced to soap and water or eye makeup remover, they shed effortlessly and cleanly. By far, my favorite mascara!
And, here are some swatches of the eyeliners, because swatches are always really useful!
Thanks ladies for reading! Hope you enjoyed a peek into my makeup drawer. If you know of any eye makeup goodies, please share!!
