Since mid 2015, Hermes' Petit h department has been selling mystery boxes. Prices greatly vary, and the most expensive mystery boxes thus far can now be purchased at Hermes. Would you spend $11,500 on an unknown item?
Before we get into these mystery boxes, let's share some of the backstory. Thierry Hermès’ great-great-great-granddaughter, Pascal Mussard founded Petit h, a workshop where all the discarded Hermes materials go. At this unique imaginative place, artisans and craftsmen convene to created handcrafted products unrelated to any collection or season.
Just last year, Petit h announced that they would sell monthly surprise boxes. The first boxes released were $240-580 depending on the size and value of the contents. Surprisingly, these mystery boxes sold out very quickly.
As according to online sources, past boxes have included pins, silk or leather jewelry, bag charms, silk totes, and clothing accessories.
This month, March 2016, they released 3 box options again, but this time including some of the most expensive options yet. The least expensive option has been sold out, but the two one-of-a-kind options at $4,525 and $11,500 are still available.
Unfortunately, there's no way to know the contents of these pricey boxes without purchasing it, and given the creativity at Petit h, it could be so many different things.
What do you think of Petit h's expensive surprise boxes?
