One of the bad things about winter is the dry air. Skin, during this time of the year, is particularly tight and can even get itchy. One of the things that makes a huge difference is facial masks. And, homemade facial masks using natural ingredients can produce amazing results.
I've had very impressive results with DIY facial masks. Most of the time, the results are better than over-the-counter products, and they are so EASY to make.
During the winter, I find myself using them twice a week to moisturize and add glow to my skin. Here are the 4 ingredients that I use the MOST during the winter.
Banana, avocado, honey, and plain yogurt are all very moisturizing ingredients with slight exfoliation effects as well. Mix these ingredients however you want, and your face will be enjoying some additional long-lasting moisture in no time!
The one that I use the most is a squeeze of plain honey by itself. It's SO simple, and it calms, moisturizes, and evens out my skin! After cleaning my face, I put a thin layer of sticky honey all over my face and leave it there for 2 hours. After rinsing clean, my skin seems to be glowing, and the results are still apparent the next day. It also helps greatly with my mild acne!
I ALWAYS recommend honey as an ingredient in any homemade face mask. It does wonders. If bananas, yogurt or avocados are added, please only leave the mask on the face for 20 minutes before washing.
If there is any avocado or banana in the mask, mash it with your fingers. Your hands will get dirty when applying anyway. The oils from the avocado and banana are especially moisturizing!
Have fun and resist the temptation to eat the mask! And, if you've got a favorite homemade DIY mask, I'd LOVE to hear about it!
