Valentine's day is fast approaching, and it shouldn't be a holiday that only couples enjoy! So, here's a fun plan for a single girls' night that will make all the committed girls a little jealous.
There are few things in this world that are as fun as doing facials with your best girlfriends! You can pick up some masks at your local drugstore to make it super easy. Here are some super affordable options: Queen Helene mint julep and grape seed peel.
Another option is homemade skin masks. One of the best masks you can do is a diy half & half and lemon mask with serious levels of alpha-hydroxy acid. In order to do this one, plan ahead 3-4 hours. Alpha-hydroxy is considered as a top ingredient for exfoliation, wrinkle reduction, and evening skin color.
Homemade Half and Half and Lemon Mask (single serving, multiply amount for each friend)
1 Tablespoon Half & Half cream (may be substituted with whole milk)
1 teaspoon squeezed lemon juice
1 very small lemon wedge
1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl including the lemon wedge. Leave it on the counter for 3-4 hours. DO NOT put this in the fridge. The mixture should curdle. Apply to clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Wash off thoroughly afterwards.
Please note that this mask will make your skin more sensitive to sunlight for a while. So, if you go out into the sun shortly after, please put on sunscreen. The homemade mask is MUCH stronger and more effective than anything bought over the shelf at a store. It will sting slightly when it is on. If you substitute half & half with milk, the mask will be much more runny and less nourishing, but still very effective.
If you're doing facials, you must do nails too! Pick pinks, reds, and sparkles to celebrate this holiday. :)
After everyone's face is feeling fresh and smooth, and the nails are in pretty pinks and reds, finish the night off with a movie and snacks. My personal movie pick for this event would be either Mean Girls or Baby Mama. Super funny and light-hearted! Even if one of your friends is totally down in the dumps about Valentine's Day, these movies will get her chuckling in no time.
One must have chocolates on V-Day! And, what works DELICIOUSLY well with chocolate is popcorn! A perfect combination of creamy, sweet, crunchy and salty!
I don't like pre-packaged popcorn due to the preservatives, and stovetop popcorn is inconvenient and easy to burn. Here's a perfect recipe for the party!
Paper Bag Popcorn (one serving, multiply amount for additional friends)
1/4 cup corn kernels
1 tsp oil or soft butter
2 dashes of salt
1 brown paper lunch bag
flavoring like curry powder, cheese, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, sugar, cinnamon, etc (optional)
1. Mix kernels with oil/butter, salt and any optional flavoring.
2. Put seasoned kernels in paper bag, and fold over the opening 3 times.
3. Place bag on plate and microwave until pops are 3 seconds apart.
