Though Herve Leger is famous in the fashion world, very few know about the brand's history. Herve Leger bandage dresses have only been in production from 1989-1997 and from 2008-present.

"I like to make women look beautiful, who want to please and be noticed."

"Designing clothes is not really a mystery, as long as you keep one important thing in mind - the body."

These are some of my favorite quotes from Herve Peugnet, the creator of Herve Leger bodycon dresses. They explain exactly why so many women love these form-fitting dresses.

Herve Peugnet has an extremely impressive fashion resume. At the early age of 23, fashion god, Karl Lagerfeld recognized his talent and took him under his training. During his career, he has contributed to the designs of Chanel, Lanvin, Fendi, Diane von Furstenburg, Chloe and Swarovski.

At age 28, he begins working for himself, creating the Herve Leger line. 4 years later, bandage dresses were born! They were inspired by his experience in designing bathing suits and some throwaway seam bindings. The first bandage dress was also the finale look of Herve Leger's 1989 runway show. The bandage dress, originally called "bender dress" became an instant sensation. They were called "bender," because they molded the body into the perfect female form.

Let's take a moment and admire the beauty of vintage Herve Leger dresses:

Please note that the dress as seen on Megan Fox is HIGHLY counterfeited. Should you see this sold on eBay or other peer to peer marketplaces, you should know that it is almost always fake.

These vintage dresses are completely timeless. Hot then, and still HOT now!

Before Herve Leger was acquired by BCBG, Herve Peugnet designed some very exclusive dresses. These were tagged Herve Leger couture. A mannequin would be created based on the exact measurements of his client. Then, keeping the client's best features in mind, a truly special dress would be meticulously made.

Because Herve Peugnet was not the majority holder of Herve Leger, the company was sold to BCBG is 1998. Shortly thereafter, BCBG halts production on bender dresses and fires Herve Peugnet. Bender dresses, now bandage dresses were relaunched in 2008 under BCBG Max Azria Herve Leger. Many today do not realize that Herve Leger dresses were around much earlier than 2008. Herve Peugnet still designs absolutely beautiful clothing. They are now designed under Herve Leroux, a name that was suggested by his dear friend Karl Lagerfeld. *They are VERY expensive!* The quality is not necessarily better in my personal opinion.

Thanks for reading! And, a special thank you to mariloupop, who requested this article! We hope that you enjoyed learning a little bit about Herve Leger's history. If there's a topic that you'd love the Lollipuff blog to cover, leave us a comment or shoot us an email. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is a lot of information online about how to take care of your Chanel bag. With so much advice floating around, it can get really confusing. Today, we're sharing with you what Chanel says in their care pamphlet.

As so many Chanel out there is vintage, it may be difficult to come across one with its care booklet. For this reason, we'll let you know what it says inside about how to care for your Chanel bag.

Always put it away upright, in the original felt case. Pad it with tissue paper to keep the shape. Make sure that the chains are not in contact with the outside, as they might mark the leather. The simplest thing is to put them inside the handbag, in the tissue paper.

Do not over-fill your handbag, as this might spoil the shape irreparably, and strain the chain-fastners, zips and clasps.

The metal parts of your handbag are gilded with an alloy containing 24-carat gold, which is sometimes sensitive to sea air and the acidity of the skin, and may eventually wear off. Clasps, chains and other metal parts can be re-gilded. Ask your CHANEL boutique for an estimate.

The tanning methods used by CHANEL keep the leather soft so that the surface remains alive and permeable. Avoid contact with water, grease, perfume and makeup.

Do not clean with products intended for other purposes, such as polish, turpentine, oil, spot removers, spirit or solvents.

Light-coloured handbags, particularly white and beige, are very vulnerable to dust and marks. Bad stains are practically impossible to remove.

White handbags are extremely sensitive to light, and the leather will turn yellow if it is exposed for too long to spotlights, flourescent lamps, etc.

You can polish the leather gently with a natural-coloured soft woollen cloth. Do not rub with rough or abrasive materials.

If your handbag gets wet, do not wipe it but absorb the water by patting gently with a fine woollen cloth.

Greasy marks can be removed with unscented talcum. Sprinkle on the mark, leave overnight and brush off gently with a perfectly clean makeup brush.

Minor scratches can be rubbed off with a clean, dry finger. Press gently, with a circular movement. The finger should be free of any grease or moisture.

Do not attempt to repair more serious damage yourself. Consult a CHANEL boutique or a good leatherCHANEL bags are mostly made of leather; however, a large number of other materials are available, the most common being jersey and fabrics.

For an extended life, the same care should be taken of these natural (wool, cotton, silk, etc) or synthetic (polyester, polyamide, etc) textiles as that already described for leather items.

It is also recommended that their maintenance be entrusted to a specialist. There is a particular point relating to light-coloured vinyl and patent leather bags: avoid prolonged contact with other dark-coloured materials. Over time, a phenomenon known as "migration" can occur, in which the dark pigments irreversibly colour the light vinyl or patent leather.

This all sounds really serious, but in my experience with Chanel, the bags are quite easy to care for.

At Lollipuff, we are blessed to know some of the most amazing ladies. Recently, Sara, one of our favorite users emailed us pictures of her Herve Leger shopping trip. She is super sweet to share these with everyone! Hope that you enjoy looking at these wonderful modeling pics!

DIY: Siam AB Crystal Strassed Christian Louboutin

If you ladies liked my first strassing project, you'll be blown away with the results of the second! These shoes have some serious sparkle impact!

Pictures During the Strassing Process:

I start my strassing project by outlining the borders of the shoes with the smallest size crystals (SS6). Then, I placed 36 large SS20 crystals on each shoe. 122 SS16 crystals are also placed randomly on each shoe.

Then, after that, just fill in the rest with SS10 and SS6 crystals. About 2000 SS6 crystals and 1500 SS10 crystals were used.

Final Result:

I love the colors that the siam colored AB crystals created!

The siam AB crystals sparkle like wild. Because of how much they sparkle, they are too dressy to wear with most outfits! My first Christian Louboutin strassing project utilized crystals that were not as sparkly (but still super sparkly, especially when moving around) and resulted in extremely versatile shoes that match tons of outfits. These shoes are definitely more formal looking!

People ask us all the time about how well lambskin leather ages throughout the years. Being an avid Chanel fan and a founder of Lollipuff, I've had the fortune of handling many beautiful Chanel bags. To answer our lovely user's question, we'll show you one of our oldest Chanel bags!

Can you tell which Chanel bag is older?

Maybe, if we take a peek inside the bag, we'll know which one is older.

very old Chanel double flap bag
Chanel lambskin changes over the years

If you're really familiar with Chanel, you'll know that the bag on the left is the older bag. The CC embroidery gives away that this bag was produced prior to 1986, when they started serial stickers for Chanel bags. The bag on the right was produced after Chanel started adding serial stickers to their handbags.

The bag on the left was made in the early 1980's, while the bag on the right was made more than 10 years later. Amazing, right?

Black lambskin ages majestically. Have you noticed that pre-owned black Chanel sometimes have this magical sheen to it? It makes the leather look like a mix between satin and leather, and the effect is ridiculously luxurious. That magical sheen is actually developed over use. The more you use a black caviar or lambskin bag, the more it will shine! Wonderful reason why Chanel should be used rather than kept in storage!

chanel's most classic 2.55 double flap bag

I'm sure some of you are wondering if there are any differences to note between these bags. One of the amazing things about Chanel is just how consistent the quality is! The leather on both is soft, smooth and regal looking. I must note that there is one notable difference. While the structure of the newer Chanel is strong, the very old piece from the early 80's is really rigid. Aside from this, there is really no difference.

Please note that the quilting on black lambskin will flatten over the years. If proper storage is practiced, the puffiness will last longer.

Here at Lollipuff, we love authenticating! How good are you at locating the ugly fakes from the gorgeous designer items? Find out how good you are at telling the difference between fake and authentic. ๐Ÿ™‚

We put the fake version right next to the authentic version. The fakes that we chose are what we consider "regular fakes." They are neither fakes that are really convincing, nor are they very obvious. Generally, these are the fakes that are most common on eBay and other peer to peer sale sites.

I loved the results of my first Christian Louboutin heels strassing project so much! Everytime I wear those sparkly pink and green shoes, tons of people remark and compliment them. Surprisingly, these over-the-top shoes have looked fantastic with the simplest of outfits and proved to be very versatile!

My first strassed Louboutins have easily become my most adored shoes. And, since the completion of my first pair, I've been itching to start on my next strassing project. ๐Ÿ™‚ This time, the shoes will be a deep red with teal blue tones. Here is the current progress...

Starting off with plain coral satin Christian Louboutin heels:

The weird string lacing in the front make the shoe outdated. No worries though, we're giving these shoes a makeover! ๐Ÿ™‚

First, I glue my SS20 Swarovski crystals in light siam AB.

The odd string is cut off. Randomly, 36 (72 total) ss20 Swarovski crystals are glued on each shoe.

The different sizes of crystals that will be used.

The smallest is SS6 deep red AB DMC crystals. I purchased about 3000 of these tiny little guys. Next up is 3000 SS10 DMC siam AB crystals. We need a lot less of the larger SS16 (288 count) and SS20 crystals (72 count). The SS16 crystals are DMC in light siam AB. The SS20 crystals are swarovski and also in light siam AB color.

Tools that were used:

Based on the suggestion of one of our lovely users, I tried out e-6000 glue as it's much stronger. Many people prefer e-6000 over gem-tac due to its strength, and it's definitely more suitable for hard to adhere surfaces like leather or patent leather. However, I found e-6000 to be much messier and harder to work with than gem-tac glue. The worst thing is its toxicity. I didn't feel safe using it unless I was outside where it was well ventilated. Gem-tac is non-toxic and can be used more leisurely. Plus, the gem-tac has held up very well on my first strassing project. For me, I'll stick with satin shoes and gem-tac glue. And, serious props to those who can handle e-6000! That goopy stuff dries so darn fast!

Some teaser pictures until the final result is revealed.

Shoes that are only part way strassed always look a bit strange. But, I seriously think this second strassing project will turn out even more beautiful than the last! This crystal color combination is even more sparkly. The first pair were decorated with light pastel colored crystals. It will be so fun to see how these deep rich red and blue colors turn out!

Got to try on 4 additional Herve Leger dresses and couldn't wait to share these with you! Herve Leger really does make the best dresses! The fit usually ranges from good to amazing, which explains why the brand has such a cult following! Here's some pics of the beautiful bandage dresses with some of my personal opinions on each.

Karina:

black and beige Herve Leger bandage dress

The Karinaย does a great job shaping the body. It really cinches in the waist and enhances cleavage. It has an interesting colorblock design that seems to minimize hips, and will be just above the knees for most heights.

Nerina:

black and white Herve Leger mini dress

For me, I found this dress a bit too short for my taste. But, for girls who love very short hemlines or are petite, this is a great dress! The lines on this dress emphasize the waist and slightly elongate the body.

Jette:

striped navy brown white Herve LEger bodycon dress

On this trip, the Jette was the stylist's and my husband's favorite. The fit is fantastic as it's individually banded. Absolutely no belly pooch here! It's also a really unique dress compared to most Herve Leger dresses due to its fun striped pattern. VERY VERY flattering to the woman's body shape.

Faith:

pretty red a-line dress

The fit and flare style is very popular right now. This dress shape has been used a lot this season from many designers. Personally, I think Herve Leger does fit and flare the best.

This dress is not as much of a super shaper like the Jette or Karina, but the dress style is still fantastic.

If you shop last call or pre-owned, you've probably come across a pair of Louboutins with ugly pen or permanent marker writing on the bottom. It's horrible to see those black scribbles that ruin Louboutin's signature red bottom. Before you walk away from that amazingly priced pair of shoes, here's a secret in making that mark go away easily and quickly!

This how-to can be used for removing pen or permanent marker located anywhere on the bottom red sole area of Louboutin heels. It has also been used on new and old versions of Christian Louboutin shoes successfully.

To demonstrate, we'll remove the pen mark at the bottom toe area. Pen marks at the bottom arch are much more obvious and bothersome to a wearer, but unfortunately, we did not have shoes on hand that had this problem.

Removing pen, ink, marker from Christian Louboutin shoes

All that's needed is a bottle of acetone nail polish remover and a cotton swab or q-tip.

Nail Polish remover and q-tip

Wet the cotton with the nail polish remover and wipe the ink from the soles! It really is that easy! The red paint on Louboutins is quite strong and will not be removed if you do not wipe aggressively.

It removed some of the dirt as well from a couple of wears. ๐Ÿ˜›

Hope this quick tutorial proved to be useful and aids in increasing your beautiful Louboutin collection!

Storing Chanel in the correct way can keep your bags in tip top shape. This tutorial goes over the best way to store your Chanel. It's particularly great for keeping the quilting on lambskin Chanel bags puffy.

We'll start with a quick tutorial on how to store the iconic Chanel 2.55 double flap.

1. Pull the chain strap in.
2. Put some filling inside the bag along with the shoulder strap. You can use old clothing that isn't being used anymore, tissue paper or any fabric that does not have color rub off.
3. Place felt in between the flaps.
4. Place felt in between the bag and the remaining chain. This will prevent the chain from indenting soft lambskin.
Finally, be sure to store your bag standing upright. This will play the biggest influence in your bag retaining its shape.

Store the bag in a dustbag if you wish. Otherwise, keep the bag out of direct sunlight while it is in storage.

If your bag already has quilting that has flattened or if your bag is in caviar leather, the felt in between the shoulder strap and bag will not be necessary.

Here are some other examples using other Chanel bags.

Hope you all found this quick tutorial easy and fun.
